The Siberian Surfer Girl

Ulyana, a warm surfer from the very cold north of the world.

It was only 25 years after being born in a little village beyond the Siberian border that Ulyana Tihonova made her way to the ocean.

It had been a cold quarter of century, very close to the sky, dropping thousands of meter high slopes and carving never-ending curves on the Siberian mountains, but always dreaming of the day she would change all those billions of icy particles for one very big particle of water.

That day came last week. We picked Uly from the train station and took her to the Ocean.

It was a long great dive. She is an aquática natural.

Siberian surfers should wach out! This girl is about to rip your line-up!

Carnaval ao virar da esquina.

Os antigos chamavam-lhe Carnis Vallis (prazeres da carne), muito antes de sonhar com o Gauchão da Picanha, ali para os lados do Lagide.

Ora, no passado carnaval, tal como normalmente acontece no Lagide, adivinhava-se uma semana de crowd abusivo e dropinanços variados. Mal soaram os primeiros tambores, partiu mais um expresso Pontoeste rumo ao Lagide.

Fica um pequeno registo do samba que rolou pelo caminho..

Do seu recente Relentless Short Stories project, nasceu uma pequena história que lhe valeu o prémio de melhor curta metragem do 2010 New York Surf Film Festival.
