The Siberian Surfer Girl

It was only 25 years after being born in a little village beyond the Siberian border that Ulyana Tihonova made her way to the ocean.

It had been a cold quarter of century, very close to the sky, dropping thousands of meter high slopes and carving never-ending curves on the Siberian mountains, but always dreaming of the day she would change all those billions of snowy micro-particles for one very big particle of water.

That day came last week. Torreira beach hosted her first ocean dive and we were truly happy to be there. In only a couple of days Ulyana boosted from an ocean premier into the, likely to be, most promising surfers ever to be seen in the far north-east.

All the Siberian surfers should be warned and very precocious. A new star on the Siberian surf scene will rise. Just watch out!
